In order to lower the operation risks meanwhile increasing the gross profit margin, DRAM module makers in recent years have started to strengthen their productive force in the industrial DRAM module market. Leading module makers Trencend has launched many DRAM modules used in servers and workstations. At the same time, A-data chairman Simon Chen also revealed recently that the company is interested in the industrial market and will tap into related sectors next year.

Taiwan module makers estimated that to sell DRAM modules into ordinary consumption market can earn no more than 10%’s gross profit margin, but the number for industrial used DRAM modules is much higher, at about more than 20%.

Trencend on Monday (June 16th) launched its latest memory module product which is specially used in servers and workstations: 1GB and 2GB low power fully-buffered DDR2-667.

As to A-data, although the company has been selling DRAM modules into industrial DRAM market, like servers and so on, it still feel necessary to further strengthen force in this market. It is predicted that the company will extent its DRAM modules to laser printer and workstation application vigorously in due form next year. Simon Chen also indicated that the selling amount into laser printer and workstation sectors for A-data is small, thus making ASP to be a bit higher; after the company strengthening force in these parts, the ASP would possible to decline, doing good to the customers. He noted that to focus on laser printer and workstation DRAM module market will help the company to advance its gross profit margin and earning rate.
