The OCZ Vertex 4 512 GB is a heavy duty product, a suitable choice for desktops, work stations, servers, and high-performance notebooks. Introduced by OCZ Technology, the OCZ Vertex 4 differs from most performance SSD products on the market in that it has an Indilinx controller chip, not the more commonly used SandForce controller. Indilinx, a South Korean company, was acquired by OCZ Technology, and both teams collaborated on the new controller chip used in the Vertex 4.
The OCZ Vertex 4 512 MB boasts a SATA 3 interface, an Indilinx Everest 2 controller chip, and an Intel SYNC MLC 25nm NAND flash chip.
The following chart provides benchmark software and system specifications:
AS SSD Benchmark
AS SSD Benchmark is a new SSD benchmarking program that can provide an overall score – the OCZ Vertex 4 512 MB received a high 1068, placing it amongst the ranks of similar products with SandForce controller chips.
The above image shows the results of the performance test.
Maximum read and write speeds were 491.5 MB/s and 463.17 MB/s, respectively, better than average.
AIDA 64
This popular benchmarking tool shows good results for read/write access speeds.
ATTO
These images show performance at QD 4 and QD 10.
Suitable for high-end notebooks, with server-level performance
The IOmeter results at 512 bytes for full random read was 98458 IOPS. 4K testing at QD 32 gave full random read and write scores of 86065.04 and 85594.62 IOPS, respectively.
The OCZ Vertex 4 is a high-density SSD that shows impressive performance and meets storage needs – a relatively affordable solution for boosting speed, the Vertex 4 is well suited for high-end notebook and server use.
